From as early as I can remember I’ve had two main interests, I think of them as common dominators. Firstly is drawing or art and secondly are computers. In primary school I always excelled in arts and did it with ease because I enjoyed it so much. I believe I got my love of art from my mom, Marinda. Thanks mom. |
| My interest in computers was sparked by my dad, Colin, and computer games became a passion of mine. When I was small, wondering around the house, I would see my dad working on his computer, and as any seven or eight year old would do, I started asking the questions where, what, when, why and how as that is in my nature | |

As my interest in computers increased I wanted my own computer. So when I was 12 my dad surprised me with my very own computer. I was ecstatic! That is when I started teaching myself the ins and outs of a computer and had a lot of endless hours of fun with computer games. I soon started making friends with computer ‘geeks’. So in case I encountered a problem neither me nor my dad could solve I had somebody to phone. In grade 10 I started computer programming because it fascinated me so much. I started with the programming language called Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0, I really enjoyed it but it felt as though something was missing. My hunger for creativity wasn’t getting fed enough. After programming for about a year, I decided to leave it, not completely, and look for something that satisfied my hunger for creativity. In my final year at school I was still searching for that something. I heard of graphic design. With my inquisitive nature, I started reading up about it. Slowly but surely my interest started increasing. If I studied graphic design I could combine both of my interests, namely my love of art and computers. Perfect! At last I found what I was looking for. After completing my course at AAA School of Advertising, I decided to start my own web site, with the help of my dad. I want to freelance because it offers so much freedom and the best part of it all I can work from home, most of the time at least. I would like to thank my parents for all their help and support, especially while I was building my web site and did not have a stable source of income. And more importantly paying for my studies, thank you again. |
