Firstly I would like to share what a graphic designer is NOT: a fashion designer, interior designer or industrial designer. A graphic designer’s job is to visually solve a problem by using text and/or graphics. Whenever you go shopping, read a magazine or use the Internet you will see a graphic designer's work. A graphic designer must try and create an eye-catching design in order to grab the attention of the target audience. How do we do this? |

By using these elements together the graphic designer will try and create a design that sends a message to the target audience of the product or service. Usually we don’t use all of them at the same time.
Depending on how we use these elements, it can either make or break a design. The elements the graphic designer chooses need to be in balance with each other and the overall design.
Your next question may be how does a graphic designer go about designing, what do we use to design?
It varies from designer to designer, but the most common are a pencil/pen, drawing pad and a computer. You will usually find that most graphic designers go through a certain process when they have to do a design for a client.
About a third of all designers choose to work for a company as an employee while others choose to work as freelance designers. A graphic designer’s field ranges from web to print design if there is something that needs to be designed you will find a graphic designer there.
