Thank you for visiting this page. Here you’ll discover something about my background, and my passion for graphic design.
For as long as I can remember I have had an interest in art and being creative whenever I could.
In my final school year I heard of something called graphic design, and I did some research. It wasn’t long and I realized this was something I wanted to get into. It involved problem solving through being creative. Now that sounded interesting!
After obtaining my diploma in graphic design from the AAA School of Advertising, I decided to start my own website. My father recommended I join Site Build It! in 2008, as he was already a member for a while and raved about it.
After 3 years of working for myself, I came up with the idea to get a job to widen my experience. In 2011 I joined a desktop publishing company, Infixion Media, as a web/graphic designer, as I had experience in both web and print design. Unfortunately, the position did not offer me the creative freedom I was looking for.
By chance, in August I was offered a freelance position at a graphic design agency. I started the contract on 12 September 2011. I learnt more in the 2 months than in my 7 months at Infixion Media. It was long hours and pressure to meet deadlines, but I was working for a boss.
During my contract, after having a chat with my boss something struck me between the eyes. I realized that I wanted to work for myself and be my own boss. It was a tough decision to leave, I met some great people but I felt it was the right thing to do.
Since then I have redesigned my site and I’m back to being my own boss, which makes me happier than anything else.
